“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses,
the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

In the Apostle Paul’s farewell address to his son in the faith, Timothy, we read in 2Timothy 2:1-2 ,
“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
Please note the expression in verse 2, “…able to teach others also.” In this verse the Bible talks about Paul, Timothy, faithful men, and others. Paul taught Timothy; Timothy was to teach faithful men; faithful men were to teach others. Training others is the Biblical method of reproducing godly people. In Psalm 78:1-7 we read,
“Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. (2) I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: (3) Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. (4) We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. (5) For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: (6) That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: (7) That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: ”
This passage emphasizes the purpose of one generation teaching the next generation, particularly as seen in verse 7,
“That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:”
In Christian homes and in the ministry some people have ceased to teach the next generation what God taught them in His word. Instruction is often being left to people who do not walk with God and who have found a worldly way to try to do God’s work. As Christians, this is our fault, because God clearly told us exactly how to teach the next generation.
As I look back over my seventy-three years of life, I am grateful to God for the great spiritual heritage I received. In 2Timothy 3:14-15 we read,
“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation though faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
Over the years many, many people invested their lives in me. Among them have been my godly parents, Sunday school teachers, youth leaders, college professors, pastors, and friends. Looking forward, I want nothing less than to invest the reminder of my life in teaching and training others.
I have had the privilege of reading, studying, preaching and teaching the Word of God. In more recent times, I have been challenged by circumstances, pastors, and missionaries to share in writing that which has been preached and taught to others. In fact, the previously mentioned passages became God’s leading to begin Bible Baptist Ministry as a faith ministry with a three-fold purpose.
Purpose ONE – The Weekly Sermon: For years, I have written and now type out my sermons word for word. It is just my way of doing them.
By request in September 2003, I started by sending a sermon a month via e-mail to about ten individuals. Now, The Weekly Sermon is being sent to college students, missionaries around the world, military personnel, pastors, evangelists, and former members of the churches where I have had the privilege of serving. The entire Bible Baptist Ministry is meant to be a help to believers and at the same time extend the message to others.
The Weekly Sermon is easily read with all the verses from the KJV typed out. In addition, each Weekly Sermon is preceded by a cover letter containing a devotional truth.
Purpose TWO – Lesson Manuals: All previously published weekly sermons as well as additional sermons and teaching series that I have preached over these fifty years are being formatted into Lesson Manuals. Each manual will contain thirteen to twenty lessons, with three added features to each – handouts, lesson outlines for both teacher and student and power-point suggestions.
These lessons can be used for personal Bible study, teaching group Bible studies and adult Sunday school classes, and of course for preaching. Each Lesson Manual will be available in print or on a thumb-drive.
In addition to the messages and lessons, many other areas of the ministry, including years of bulletin articles and programs for various ministries, will be made available.
The ultimate goal of Bible Baptist Ministry, as I currently see it, is for fifty-plus volumes of sermons and various ministry matters to be placed into the hands of young pastors with new churches, missionaries, national pastors around the world and layman who have a desire to study the Word of God and/or to teach others.
Purpose THREE – Discipleship Manual: “GROWING IN GRACE One Step at a Time in Your Christian Walk” is a discipleship manual in two volumes of thirteen lessons each. It is designed to be flexible enough for use by believers of all ages in a variety of settings:
Personal Study One-on-one Disciple Training
Group Bible Study Sunday School Classes
The manuals are specifically designed to direct the new Christian, as well as the growing Christian, through a program of discipleship which includes a careful study of the Word of God and the application of Biblical doctrine to everyday living.
